Using Year 6 playground buddies, our times table signs and a set of pompoms, Mrs Noble set about helping her less able group of Year 2 children learn basic times tables during playtimes and lunchtimes.
“It has been a battle to get my class consistently counting in 2s, 5s and 10s, let alone 3s! The Y6 play buddies were great and so keen to lead cheerleading with the younger children. In fact, so many children wanted a go we had to order more pompoms!
Over the last 6 weeks it has become a regular lunchtime activity with children from other year groups joining in.”
A Y1 teacher was stunned at her children counting in 5s without hesitation during a numeracy lesson & Mrs Noble’s class are confidently using their tables knowledge to complete word problems that had previously been beyond them!
