Fact-Packed Fun!
All KS2 children at St. Michael’s have really benefitted from the playground timelines AND in more ways than you’d think!
Every time we started a new history topic, children would get muddled regarding when the topic related to other periods in history that had been studied previously. We don’t study in chronological order! Teachers now make a point of explaining where the new topic fits in with previous learning AND the best way of doing this is out on the playground using the timelines!
“This is such a great way of reminding children what has been learnt previously” - Miss Ghuman ,Y4
“I use a timeline every time we start a new history topic and I use them for assessment too!” - Mr Andrews Y6
“I set homework based on the timelines and have found children reading the information at break and lunchtimes.” – Mrs Carter – Y5
“The best History was when Mrs Carter said we were time travellers and set us to discuss and compare different times we had studied to see the best period to live in! We went outside and in groups made notes from the timelines then had a lively discussion!” – Keiran and Emily
